Police in Ntungamo District is investigating a murder by stabbing of Constansio Bakasisa, a female adult aged 109years a resident of Kahunga 1 Cell Kahunga Parish Ntungamo district by her husband Babiiha Dominic a male adult aged 110 years of the same residence.

It’s alleged that on the 14/12/2023 at about 08:00pm after supper the suspect requested the deceased to join him in his bedroom but the deceased declined to his request because she was feeling weak and had cough, so the two went to their separate rooms, the deceased going  with two of their great grandchildren.

In the morning of the 15/12/2023 at about 07:00am the suspect made an alarm saying he couldn’t die alone, when the great granddaughter aged 10years opened the door to find out what the problem was, she saw the suspect armed with billhook (Oruhabyo) who ordered her to get out of the way.

According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson, the suspect entered and immediately started stabbing the deceased multiple times which forced the great grandchild to run out of the house to seek help from the neighbours that responded.

The neighbours on arrival found Bakasisa already dead and Babiiha Dominic locked himself in his bedroom and on opening he was found unconscious with a bottle of an Agro chemical beside him.

When the Police was called in, it rushed the suspect to the Itojo hospital for treatment under tight security as well as the body was subjected to postmortem.

Kasasira says preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the deceased were a married couple staying in the same house but sleeping in separate rooms and the act of violence was as a result of denial of conjugal rights.
