National Unity Platform Spokesman Joel Ssenyonyi has condemned in the strongest terms, the attacks on journalists and party supporters by yet to be identified people during the Campaigns in Lira City yesterday.
TV journalists who were live streaming the Bobi Wine rally in Lira City were badly beaten and their equipment stolen while their crew van was vandalized.
Now Ssenyonyi says that they have information that the state in conjunction with the police have made plans to keep planting goons sometimes with NUP/People Power T-shirts in the crowds that welcome Bobi Wine in the various districts he goes to.
Ssenyonyi claimed that the intention is for them to wreak havoc by attacking people including the media like they did yesterday, such that NUP gets soiled.
Ssenyonyi alleges that police plans to use the t-shirts and berets which they confiscated from party offices in Kamwokya recently but said they are watching police’s every move.
