ELECTORAL COMMISSION-EC TO SOON ISSUIE MORE CLARIFICATION ON THE BAN OF CAMPAIGNS IN 13 DISTRICTS

Paul-Bukenya1-11c8ac00

The electoral Commission has maintained that the decision to suspend campaigns in some 13 districts is based in the law.

It comes as the commission is under fire over the decision taken as part of efforts to contain the spread of Covid19.

Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago yesterday also petitioned the High court seeking orders to reverse the decision terming it as irrational and an infringement on his rights to associate, interface and convince the electorate to vote him for the 3rd time in the office of the Lord Mayor.

Speaking to Endigyito radio, the commission’s acting spokesperson Paul Bukenya says they have no problem with anyone dissatisfied with an issue to go to court.

He however says the commission is to offer further clarification on the matter.
