POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED OVER RAPE CHARGES

Moroto Police are holding one of their own accused of raping a woman who sought help at Camp Swahili police post over the weekend.

Corporal Moses Steven Ebu was picked up from the police post shortly after the woman lodged a complaint at Moroto central police station.

According to the witnesses, who didn’t want to be named, the complainant went to Camp Swahili police post seeking help after failing to trace her relatives in Moroto.

Samuel Abura, one of the Boda bodas riders in Moroto Municipality told our reporter that he heard a woman crying for help but didn’t know what was going on.

Thomas Opiga, the Moroto Police Legal Officer confirmed the arrest of the suspect adding that the file is ready he will appear before the court any time.

Opiga told journalists that the woman whose identity is kept to avoid being traumatized had gone to seek refuge from police post after failing to get a transport to take her to where she was going.
