Mbarara Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Col James Mwesigye has cautioned the newly elected Mbarara city leaders against corruption but to focus on improving the livelihoods of the electorates.
He sounded this while as a guest of honour during the swearing in of the newly elected city Mayor Robert Kakyebezi Mugabe and the city councilors.
RCC Col Mwesigye said that since they had been sworn in it’s high time they embarked on developmental issues rather than infighting.
In his remarks moments after swearing in, City Mayor Kakyebezi challenged the councilors to own up responsibility of developing the city and service delivery as some of the roles why they were elected.
At the swearing-in ceremony held at Mayor’s gardens, Bonny Tashobya was elected the city council speaker after defeating Eunice Asiimwe.
Meanwhile, Kakyebezi appointed Mulongo Prisca Muganzi as the deputy mayor, Ronald Taremwa Bamuhayira as secretary for finance, Monica Mutabarura as secretary for Production, Abass Kazibwe as secretary for health and he retained Works and transport in his office.
The swearing in ceremony was presided over by Mbarara chief Magistrate Samuel Twakire.
