UNLICENSED VETERINARY DOCTORS TO BE JAILED FOR SEVEN YEARS

A teacher at Kumari Primary School Bosco Atiku, 36yrs, in Koboko district has been jailed eight years after being convicted for defiling a 16-year-old.

The chief magistrate’s court of Yumbe yesterday sentenced Atiku for defiling a Primary Seven pupil of Omgbokolo PS in Yumbe district.

Atiku, who is a resident of Mongoyo village, Ombachi parish in Lobule sub-county, Koboko district, took the pupil to his home within the school compound.

It was only after about four days that information reached the girl’s relatives and the Omgbokolo Primary School administration where the girl was studying.

Atiku was arrested on March 27, 2023, at Kumari Primary School with the support of the sub-county leaders of Arafa in Yumbe district to whom the school authorities of Omgbokolo primary reported the incident.

Appearing before the court in Yumbe, Atiku denied the allegations which prompted the court to undergo full trials on him, getting witnesses on both sides, giving him time for defence before the judgement was read to him by the chief magistrate Freddie Awacnedi yesterday.

Awacnedi faulted Atiku for wasting the court’s time yet he knew that he was guilty.

He added that Atiku as a man in the working class is aware that there are many adult women out there looking for people like him for marriage rather than taking advantage of a vulnerable schoolgirl who is underage.
