The Police in Otuke are hunting for an 18-year-old man who raped a 75-year-old woman on New Year’s Day over failure to pay for pork worth sh7,000 she took on credit.
Police say the old woman was walking back home from Okolia trading centre at about 7:00pm when she met the assailant identified as Oscar Acol.
North Kyoga Police region spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema said the Police in Otuke registered and are investigating a case of rape that happened to an old woman, a resident of Alemu village, Anepkide Parish in Olilim sub-county.
He said they got a report that when the victim met the suspect along the way, he asked for his shillings 7,000 payment for the pork the victim had taken on credit.
However, the victim didn’t have to, so the suspect reportedly slapped her on the left side of the face and she fell.
The suspect, who is on the run, allegedly strangled the victim and forcibly had sex with her despite cries for help.
Okema said when an eyewitness, Harriet Awidi, reached the scene and found the suspect still lying on the victim, he fled.
The Police mouthpiece said efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect.
