Finance Minister Matia Kasaija has revealed that the country’s economy is projected to have grown by 5.5 percent compared to 4.6 percent last year.
According to minister kasaija, Uganda’s economy has remained resilient, and is on a steady recovery path.
Minister said this during 2023/2024 national budget reading of 52.7 trillion at Kololo ceremonial grounds in Kampala
According to him, the economy’s expansion is on account of good performance of the services sector which grew at 6.2 percent, compared to 4.1 percent in the previous year.
Inflation, according to Kasaija, is reducing steadily on account of well-coordinated fiscal and monetary policy.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni challenged social media reports that he was seriously ill and in intensive care.
The President said this during the 2023/2024 national budget reading of 52.7 trillion at Kololo ceremonial grounds in Kampala virtually.
He thanked Ugandans who have been praying for him and sending messages for his quick recovery.
Museveni said that the strategy would continue to focus on infrastructure, industrialization and value addition to agricultural products for economic growth.
