MIDWIFE IN KAMWENGE ARRESTED OVER DEATH OF EXPECTANT MOTHER

Police in Kamwenge district are holding Livius Twerinde, a midwife attached to Bunoga health center 111, Busiriba sub-county on allegations of negligence of duty.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, Twerinde who was on duty failed to pay attention to a 37 year old Mutuma Grace, a resident of Bunoga A, Busiriba sub-county who had gone to the facility to give birth.

It’s said that Twerinde asked the patient to buy herself equipment so as to attend to her but during the process she struggled and delivered a baby boy from the compound unfortunately Grace died immediately due to over bleeding.

Tweheyo Meble the OCCID Kamwenge police station has confirmed the arrest of one Livius Twerinde.

Mable says Twerinde will be charged accordingly after police investigations.
