Muslims around the world have today morning thronged to different worshiping places as they celebrate Eid-Al-Adha.

Eid Al Adha is celebrated for four days at the end of the Hajj or the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Muslims honor Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.

However, before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead.

Yesterday Muslims stormed different livestock marketspurchasing livestock, including goats, sheep, and cows for sacrifice on the day.

Therefore, in commemoration of this intervention, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts.

One share is given to the poor and needy, another is kept for home, and the third is given to relatives.

Speaking during an interview with our reporter, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) secretary for religious affairs Sheik Abdunoor Imaram Ssali called on Muslims to slaughter healthy animals as prescribed by the Islamic teaching.

In Mbarara, at least 800 cows are to be slaughtered, according Umaru Abdulwabu Ssebaramu the Public Relations officer for Iqra Association for Dawa and Development.
