The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has advised the government to incorporate all teachers in the new salary scheme, faulting it for pursuing a policy that seems to favour science teachers over those that teach arts.
He made the remarks as Muslim faithful in Uganda joined the rest worldwide to commemorate the Eid Adhuha.
Addressing Muslims during the celebrations at Old Kampala Mosque, Mubaje stressed that salary inequalities could be disastrous and yet can be avoided.
Mubaje used the same occasion to inform Muslims that the unity drive that was rolled out some time back with Sheikh Obeid Kamulegeya, the former Chief Kadhi of Uganda; Sheikh Muhammad Yunus Kamoga, the Nakasero Mosque based Amiir Ummah and Sheikh Saliman Kasule Ndirangwa, the former supreme mufti at the Kibuli based faction is on course and running well.
He said this has facilitated calmness in the Muslim community resulting in drawing a draft UMSC constitution.
Mubaje reminded Muslims to get prepared to participate in the forthcoming UMSC national elections where they will elect committees for village mosques, counties, districts, regions, the executive, and general assembly purposely to strengthen unity for a viable UMSC that will survive generations to come.
