Stakeholders in the fight against HIV/Aids are worried over drug adherence among school going children due to  stigma.

Speaking at a Media cafe organized by Health Journalists Network in Uganda at Oxford Hotel in Mbarara city, Kedrace Natukunda a counselor in Charge of Children and adults at The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) says Children living with HIV are still faced with stigma from the community and in schools which may lead them not to adhere to taking their life supporting drugs.

She adds that the element of stigmatizing children is on the rise amongst adolescents with HIV especially in boarding schools.

Natukunda is now appealing to caretakers at schools, especially matrons in boarding Schools, to encourage Children living with HIV to take their ARV’s regularly.

Juliet Kasande from Kashumba, Bukanga Isingiro District who has been living with HIV now for 22years calls upon the community members to treat well people living with HIV.

Doctor Rosemary Ayebazibwe believes when people are sensitized about the prevention, care and treatment of HIV by 2030 Uganda will be an HIV free generation.
