20 CONFIRMED DEAD AFTER LINK BUS ACCIDENT ALONG FORTPORTAL KAMPALA ROAD

At least 20 people have so far been confirmed dead after a Kampala-bound bus today overturned on Fort Portal-Kyenjojo road.

The bus, registration number UBA 003S, was travelling from Fort Portal this morning when the accident happened at Ssebitoli in Kabarole District.

Traffic police spokesperson, Ms Faridah Nampiima has confirmed that so far 20 died on spot out of whom thirteen are adults while seven are juveniles while eleven are male and nine are females.

The accident happened at around 10:30am at Sebitoli, two kilometers from Fort Portal City, according to police which is still investigating the cause of the crash.

She noted that the injured have been rushed to the nearby Buhinga hospital for first aid while the dead are at the same hospital for postmortem.

Several ambulances were seen evacuating the injured to Buhinga hospital and Fort Portal regional referral hospital as family members converged at the accident scene to establish the status of their relatives.

Nampiima said a detailed report will be shared after establishing facts around the cause of the accident.
