51 UGANDANS TO BE AWARDED WITH HEROES MEDALS

A total of 51 Ugandans are to be awarded medals during this year’s Heroes Day celebrations.

Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda said, during a media briefing at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, that different categories of medals will be awarded to different people.

According to Babalanda, the Presidential Award Committee has approved 51 special categories of medals.

Every June 9th, Uganda commemorates the heroes who supported the liberation struggles in the 1980s in the Luwero triangle.

This year, Uganda will be celebrating the 34th Heroes Day under the theme: Arise Uganda, Our Heroes’ sacrifices are now bearing fruits.

She added that this year’s celebrations will be conducted at Kasaala Catholic Parish Grounds in Butuntumula sub-county, Luwero district.
