BODA-BODAs STILL LEAD IN CAUSING ACCIDENTS IN THE COUNTRY-POLICE

editor
By editor

Over 60 people died and 338 were seriously injured in the road crashes that occurred last week (October 22-28).

Among the dead, 25 were traveling on boda-boda, 17 were riders and eight passengers while 32 were pedestrians.

Traffic Police spokesperson Micheal Kananura says some of the crashes are attributed to speeding and unnecessary overtaking.

He told motorists to ensure that they use the mirrors on their vehicles to reduce their chances of being involved in a crash.

Kanaura said flouting such guidelines will only increase road crashes in the country.

According to the health ministry, Uganda spends over shillings 7.5 trillion on the treatment of road crash and boat accident victims every year.

The ministry has, therefore, called for government intervention to reduce crashes and boat accidents.
