Unknown thugs have stolen 27 computers from Nyairongo Seed Secondary School in Kyangwali Sub County in Kikuube District.
The thugs reportedly raided the school in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Estaliko Bendagumiza, the school headteacher told Endigyito radio that the school management realized on Wednesday morning that the 27 computers were missing in the computer laboratory.
He says after the incident, they immediately notified the police who arrested one of the school guards identified as Celestine Natukunda 32 and Sharif Besige, the assistant lab attendant.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the arrest and detention of the two suspects who are currently being detained at the Kikuube central police station stating that the hunt for more suspects is ongoing.
This is not the first time thugs have raided seed secondary schools in the Albertine region to steal computers.
Last month, thugs raided Butiaba seed secondary school in Buliisa district and stole 21 computers that had been installed in the computer room.
This resulted in the arrest and detention of two suspects including Godfrey Rwamukaga and Alfred Bigirwenkya, both guards attached to the school.
In November 2022, unknown thugs raided Kigorobya Seed Secondary school in Hoima district and made off with 16 computers.
