NRM Diistances self from Woman Remanded for Slapping Traffic Officer as PRO

STEPHEN MUJUNI
By STEPHEN MUJUNI

The NRM office of communications has outrightly denied the woman recorded assaulting the traffic officer.

“As a matter of fact, she has never been a staff of the Secretariat and is unknown to us,” Emmanuel Dombo, NRM spokesperson, clarified with emphasis.

Ms. Bashisha’s fortunes went south when a video of her assaulting a law enforcement officer circulated on social media.

Her and her accomplice were recorded roughly reacting to a traffic officer’s initiatives to bring them to order.

The incident has led to Women Lawmakers apologising to the country on behalf of the suspect currently remanded till the 4th of November, when she’ll return to court alongside the co-accused, Bernardine Abangira.

The two women’s charge sheet reads charges, including robbery, reckless driving, failure to comply with police orders, and operating a vehicle without third-party insurance.

Mr. Dombo insisted the stories in circulation relating Ms. Bashisha to the NRM as falso and intended to cast the party in negative light.
We are glad that the law is taking its due course,” Mr. Dombo added.
