SFC soldier to hang for killing five members of same family

Robert Habertson Bilivumbuka of the elite Special Forces Command has been court martialed to death for the murder of five family members in Mayuge.

The army court that was presided over by Lt. Col. Moses Nabaasa heard that in June, Bilivumbuka shot and killed Isaac Mudhaasi and his children Elesi Kafuko, Resty Kantono, and Julius Musasizi. Jesca Timujibwa, Viola Kyakuweire, Ham Kitibwa, and Moureen Were were left injured.

Lt Col Moses Nabaasa added that soldiers of Bilivumbuka’s calibre are trained to protect civilians, and their turning the rifle to the civilian is contrary to what was expended on them.

Bilivumbuka’s father, Tagaba Patrick, was co-convicted to one year in prison and Med Mumbya to half a year.

Bilivumbuka’s conviction comes days after another SFC soldier shot dead three civilians and critically injured three others in Agago District, northern Uganda.
