Jane Francis Abodo The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has withdrawn murder charges against Mary Aketch Banedate Olokojo, the headteacher of Rockview school, and her co-accused.

Before withdrawing the charges, the magistrate explained to the court that the Constitution of Uganda gives powers to the DPP to withdraw charges against anyone accused or suspected without giving a reason or explanation.

State attorney Harriet Angom submitted a court withdrawal form dated October 24 written by Abodo to the Chief Magistrate’s court, withdrawing the charges against the suspects.

Aketch and 3 others had been accused of murdering her husband, who was the ex-head teacher at St. Peter’s College Tororo.

The presiding magistrate ordered her and three other suspects set free unless held for other lawful charges.

Joseph Olokojo, the deceased former headteacher of St Peters College Tororo, met his end when his sad demise occurred when he was set on fire with his house.
Police intelligence had led to the arrest of his wife as a key suspect. She was arraigned before Grade I magistrate court in Tororo and had been held on remand in Morukatipe Prison.
