KITGUM MAN KILLS ANOTHER OVER RAT’S MEAT

Police in Kitgum District have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his friend to death after accusing him of eating his roasted rat meat without permission.
A police source said the disagreement started after the suspect discovered that one of his roasted rats was missing, prompting a quarrel which ensued into a physical altercation.
Omony, who sustained physical injuries, was rushed to Orom Health Centre for treatment, but was pronounced dead on arrival, leading to the suspect`s arrest.
The body was taken to Namukora Health Centre IV for postmortem, while the suspect is being held at Kitgum Central Police Station.
Rats are delicacies and a source of income among the communities of Kitgum and Lamwo Districts in Northern Uganda. Each roasted rat costs between Shs 500 and Shs 1,000, depending on the size.
