Only 200 teachers from across the country will physically attend this year’s Teacher’s Symposium due to covid-19 pandemic.

Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre, Jonathan Kamwana, the Commissioner Teacher, Instructor Education and Training said the purpose of this year’s symposium is to provide a platform for teachers and stakeholders to share ideas to fast track digitization of the teaching workforce for both on and off school learning.

He says that shortly after the second symposium, the world was hit by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and education like other sectors was badly affected.

This year’s teacher’s symposium will be held from Wednesday March 24Th to Friday 26Th under the theme “A digitally competent teaching force for the 21st Century.”

Last year, up to 500 teachers attended the symposium.
