A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly presenting fake academic documents at the ongoing recruitment exercise of Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel in Kagadi district.

The suspect has been identified as James Kasozi, a resident of Muruha cell in Kagadi district.

It is alleged that Kasozi approached the office of the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner-RDC on Monday, to deliver his application in order to be considered in the ongoing recruitment of Local Defence Unit-LDU Personnel.

However, it was discovered that Kasozi had forged the O’level certificate he presented to the panel and was immediately arrested and taken to Kagadi Central Police Station, from where he revealed that he dropped out of school after completing Primary Seven.

Lilian Ruteraho, the RDC Kagadi says the suspect will be charged with forgery once police investigations are done.

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) last week announced the recruitment of another batch of 10,000 Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel countrywide and the recruitment exercise will last about four weeks starting August 23rd, 2021.
