The Kanungu Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajji Shafique Ssekandi on Monday ordered for the arrest of the chairman of the Emyooga Carpenters’’ SACCO of Kanungu and some members of his executive committee over alleged failure to account for Shs35m Emyooga money they received from government in May 2021.
Mr Ssekandi’s directive came shortly after the Carpenters’ general assembly August 23 unanimously denounced Mr Tahoreraho as their chairman.
“My office established that the Emyooga carpenters fund benefited non-carpenters as the executive committee opted to share it with their family members and some district officials,’’ he said.
However, some of the carpenters accused the district Commercial officer Tom Hamujuni for conniving with the sacco leaders, withdrew the money and shared among themselves.
It is also alleged that, Hamujuni created ghost groups to be beneficiaries and in turn the money ended in his pockets.
When contacted over the matter, Hamujuni rubbished the claims and warned journalists against involving themselves in matters that do not concern them.
“I will deal with anyone who involves my name in these matters” he warned.
