WEDNESDAY NIGHT ACCIDENT CLAIMS FORMER KOZO MP BAFAKI’S LIFE

Former Member of Parliament for Kazo, Gordon Bafaki has died in an accident along the Northern bypass in Kampala.

Bafaki,48yrs was involved in an accident along the Kampala Northern bypass in the wee hours of today as he returned from Kiruhura where he was attending the homecoming celebrations for the Commander of Land Forces, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Bafaki was a member of the organizing committee for the celebrations.

The Traffic Police spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima confirmed the accident and MP Bafaki’s death.

Nampiima said preliminary investigations indicated that Bafaki’s vehicle knocked the rear body of the moving trailer but noted inquiries which are now underway will provide more details on circumstances under which the accident happened.

His death has been confirmed by the deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa in a tweet who said Bafaki was an assertive legislator who pushed for the interests of his people and the country.

Bafaki lost his MP seat to Dan Kimosho during the 2021 general election.

Security Minister, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi in a tweet eulogized the deceased and asked God to comfort his family.

The Speaker of parliament Annet Annita Among described the late as young and vibrant, thanking him for his services to the country during his tenure as a legislator.
