Police in Ntoroko District are searching for two of their colleagues who went missing after an attack on marine policemen on Lake Albert in the district.

According to information obtained by Endigyito radio on October 8th at around 10 PM, a group of four marine policemen attached to Kanara detach in Ntoroko district went on patrol on the lake.

However the following day, officers at the detach received a tip off from a UPDF intelligence officer in Kagadi district informing them that their four colleagues had been attacked by members suspected to be of a militia group from Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, the four policemen are Sam Namunyu who was leading the patrol operation, Micheal Mulyamoli, Davis Asiimwe and Alfred Watumu.

Twesige says on receiving the information, police in Ntoroko commenced a search and rescue operation for the officers and were able to rescue Watumu and Asiimwe.

He adds that Asiimwe had been shot in the right arm by the militants who attacked them.

The Police spokesperson revealed that the other two officers, Namunyu and Mulyamboli are still missing together with the Police patrol boat and four rifles.

However, he says that the search for the missing officers is still ongoing.
