A police officer has shot and killed a UPDF officer in Mbarara city over a yet to be known reason.
In statement, Emmanuel Bwambale the District Police Commander CPS Mbarara says Police Constable Opio Charles attached to Field Force Unit Mbarara at about 6pm yesterday evening at Police/ Prison Cell opposite bank of Uganda Mbarara branch shot dead L/CPL Yeremiah Paper a UPDF Officer attached Ruhengyere Engineering Brigade in Kiruhura District.
According to Bwambale, the two had a misunderstanding that led to the Shooting.
Police says the suspect was arrested and is in Police Custody at CPS Mbarara and the killer gun recovered.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Regional Referral Hospital Mbarara for postmortem as investigations continue.
This adds to other incidents that exhibit more gun violence in the country as at least seven people have been gunned down in the space of about two weeks.
