Police in Mbarara district have launched a man hunt for a 28 year old man on allegations of hacking his own two year old child to death.

Bossa Kamukama, a resident of Rubaare cell, Bisya ward in Rubindi Ruhumba Town council allegedly hacked his own child over yet to be disclosed issues.

According to Amos Betungura, the Officer in charge Rubindi Police station, the lifeless body of a minor was found on a mattress inside the house.

He said police have now started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the tragic incident.

The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira has identified the deceased only as Mucunguzi aged 02years and 06months, who was killed by his biological father Kamukama aged 25years.

Kasasira added that the suspect chased the wife away last month and their two children remained with their grandparents who have been looking after them.

Kasasira explains that yesterday the suspect collected two children to spend time with him but at around 11:00pm, the suspect started making an alarm seeking help from the neighbours that his son had died in his sleep but never bothered to inform his mother who stays a few meters from his house and has since been on the run.

The motive of the act has not been established but inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.
