Kelechi Iheanacho was on target as Nigeria comfortably beat seven-time champions Egypt in their Africa Cup of Nations Group D opener.

The Leicester City striker opened the scoring in the 30th minute as Nigeria dominated throughout, while the Pharaohs offered little in response after falling behind in Garoua.

Meanwhile, Algeria began the defense of their Africa Cup of Nations title with a goalless draw against a stubborn and spirited Sierra Leone side in Group E.

The Leone Stars had the better first-half openings, with Alhaji Kamara sending two chances narrowly wide.

In the last game of yesterday Sudan and Guinea Bissau ended in a goalless draw after 82nd penalty miss by Guinea Bissau’s Judilson Pele.

The tournament continues today with three games as Tunisia takes on Mali at 4pm, Mauritania and Gambia at 7pm while Equatorial Guinea face Ivory Coast at 10pm.
