President Museveni has announced that his Covid-19 test results have indicated that he’s negative, 11 days after he went into self-isolation after being infected with the virus.
It’s not yet clear how Museveni, who has always been extra-cautious with his health and observing all the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures, got infected.
Museveni on June 7th physically addressed Parliament as he delivered the State-of-the-Nation address at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala, an event that was boycotted by Opposition MPs who accused him of “wasting billions of shillings of taxpayers’ money on avoidable Covid-19 tests” mandated for anyone to attend his public gatherings.
Museveni revealed that he had stopped using facemasks because they were giving him irritations in the throat.
President Museveni also asked his ministers to explain why Covidex, a herbal drug for use in the treatment of Covid-19 and other viral infections, had not been regularized, as he declared himself cured from coronavirus which had sent him into self-isolation for 11 days.
Prof Patrick Ogwang, clinical pharmacologist has been producing, distributing and selling the drug through Jena Herbals Uganda Limited since June 2021, when the National Drug Authority (NDA) cleared his firm to deal in it.
Museveni demanded for a quick answer from Dr Monica Musenero the Minister, Science, Technology and Innovation and from the Ministry of Health on Prof Ogwang’s claim that his Covidex can cure covid19 asking for more seriousness in these ministries.
