Ankole and Kigezi Regions have been ranked best in embracing modern Family Planning Methods.
According to a survey conducted by Performing Monitoring for Action Uganda, Ankole and Kigezi Regions were the best in all regions of Uganda in embracing modern Family planning methods.
Addressing journalists during the south Western Regional family planning dialogue at Igongo Hotel in Mbarara city, Prof. Fredrick Makumbi a professor at Makerere University College of health sciences noted that in the survey it was found out that 49% of married women aged 15-49 years have been using Modern family planning methods.
He however attributed this achievement to the levels of education in both regions.
The south Western Regional family planning dialogue was organized by the Ministry of health in partnership with National population Council and Reproductive Health Uganda and it was attended by District Leaders, RDC’s from the two regions of Ankole and Kigezi.
