The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Most Rev Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, has started a three-day pastoral visit to the Diocese of Kigezi.
This visit marks his first visit to Kigezi Diocese since he was consecrated as the Archbishop in February 2020.
The theme of the visit is “United for Service and Growth.”
Kazimba arrived in the diocese yesterday evening at the border of Rutobo, Rukiga-Ntungamo districts, and made a short address to the Christians who had gathered at Nyeikunama primary school playground in Muhanga town council before proceeding to Rugarama cathedral.
During his address, Mugalu urged Christians to be content with what they already have and to use their status positively to ensure peace in society. He also called on them to shun homosexuality.
According to Gaddie Akanjuna, the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, during his pastoral visit, which will end on Saturday evening, the Archbishop will lay the foundation stone for Buhangizi Church of Uganda and Rwamatunguru Church of Uganda Parishes in Kamwezi sub-county, Rukiga district.
He will also commission the multimillion All Saints Church Kabale and lay a dedication stone at Kamuganguzi Archdeaconry Church in Kamuganguzi sub-county, Kabale District, and a church-founded vocational school in Nyaruhanga Archdeaconry in Rubanda district, among other activities.
