Two Judges of the High Court have camped at Mbarara Main Prison to expedite and conclude at least 700 plea bargained agreements.
The Judges are Justice Joyce Kavuma Senior Resident Judge, Mbarara High Court and Hon. Lady Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga the focal of the Plea Bargain Program.
The Plea Bargain Camp was set up at the courtyard of the Mbarara Main Prison in Mbarara city with dedicated spaces for prosecution and lawyers representing the accused persons.
While opening the session Chief Justice Alfonse Owinyi Dollo says the plea bargain program is for the guilty and not the innocent thus appealing to all the accused persons who know they didn’t commit the offences they are accused of not to participate in plea bargaining.
The Mbarara High Court circuit Registrar Sarah Langa Siu says that the camp is having both new and old cases to settle.
