The Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among have jetted out of the country to visit hospitalized Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah in the United States of America (USA).
The duo, according to reports, left the country at 0500hrs through the Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday evening and are set to arrive in the US on Wednesday.
Plenary yesterday afternoon was held for just 30 minutes before Deputy Speaker Among adjourned the house sine die, leaving the legislators wondering why some items on the order paper were left untouched.
Speaking to Endigyito radio, Parliament Spokesperson Chris Obore confirmed the development but said that Among and the chief justice’s travel to the US were on schedule.
Obore said that the deputy speaker was scheduled to visit her boss but yesterday’s plenary had to happen.
Speaker Oulanyah last chaired Parliament on November 24, 2021 and he left Uganda for specialized treatment in a Seattle based hospital US.
In a tweet, Obore has also asked Ugandans to ignore reports on social media that the Speaker passed on earlier this month saying some malicious people are just using the Wikipedia page to wrongly profile the honorable.
Obore says Among is the only person who will inform MPs and the public in case of any development just like she did when Oulanyah was flown out of the country.
