The residents of Kyakaregura village, Kakayo parish, Kasambya sub-county in Kakumiro district are still reeling from shock after a fellow resident allegedly hacked his teenage son to death.

The suspect, 32-year-old Fred Munezero, is currently under detention at Kakumiro Central Police Station on charges of murder.

He is said to have repeatedly hit his 13-year-old son with a hammer over missing money (sh20,000) leading to the boy’s death.

Confirming the incident plus the arrest of the suspect, Albertine Police spokesperson Julius Hakiza condemned the act.

The victim, Joshua Hakizimana, was a Primary Six pupil at Kyakaregura Primary School.

Eyewitness Emmanuel Pendo said Munezero first tied his son’s arms, before descending on him.
