The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has nominated two candidates for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) race.
The candidates are Dr Joseph Tindyebwa the Deputy Secretary-General in charge of Research and Seruwuge Yassin Former FDC MP candidate for Bukoto South.
Yesterday, the candidates submitted their nomination forms with copies of their national IDs, copies of their UACE pass slips, ID photos, and copies of the party ID.
These were then verified by the party electoral commission which nominated them to vie for the party’s flag.
Tindyebwa says that when voted into the Legislative Assembly, he will advocate enforcement of free labour movement within the community and a common market.
Yassin, the Former FDC MP candidate for Bukoto South, says that currency devaluation is the first challenge he has to table before the Assembly.
He says that the adoption of a single currency for East Africa is the best solution to the devaluation of the Ugandan currency.
The party’s Flagbearer will be voted for by the 86 members of the party NEC on Tuesday 8th February.
Each of the East African Community member countries has to send nine legislators to the Arusha-based Assembly.
