FDC’S BIRIGWA INVITES NRM’S TODWONG FOR THE CONTENTIOUS DELEGATES’ CONFERENCE

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) national chairman, Wasswa Birigwa, has written to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) inviting secretary general Richard Todwong to the party’s contentious extraordinary delegates’ conference.

The conference was set to be held tomorrow, at Nature’s Green Beach Resort in Busabala, Wakiso District however, the High Court in Kampala issued an interim order blocking the conference.

According to Birigwa’s letter seen by our reporter,he is asking Todwong to attend and stand in solidarity with the FDC.

The NRM director for communications, Emmanuel Dombo, confirmed receipt of Birigwa’s invitation.

Dombo said it is true they received the letter inviting them to their meeting but the NRM secretary general is to make consultations and find out if it is fine for us to attend.

Dombo explained that the NRM secretary general does not just attend any organised meeting, but attends a lawfully constituted one.

For months, FDC has been embroiled in battles among top leaders stemming from counter accusations specifically on ‘dirty money’ from the State, amongst the party’s top office bearers.

On Wednesday last week, the Police in a letter to Birigwa, said it was not going to offer security to the meeting and advised him to first harmonise the party position before he calls the highly contested delegates’ conference.
