The Government has issued fresh guidelines for visits to countries that have a visa-free policy arrangement with Uganda.
The guidelines are intended to reduce rising challenges for Ugandan citizens visiting those countries.
According to the Internal Affairs Ministry, all travelers must now have proper prior hotel bookings in the destination countries, a letter from their host, and a return ticket before departing the country.
Ministry’s spokesperson Simon Mundeyi noted that the move follows an upsurge in the number of Ugandans making distress calls, after being rejected by their host countries.
Recently, the ministry released a list of countries with a visa-free policy with Uganda as Mundeyi said they believe this is the reason many Ugandans have been making the visits in large numbers abroad, although some have not been following the proper channels.
