Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has promised to restore the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu cultural institution to its past glory.

Speaking at Nyakasanga playgrounds in Kasese municipality yesterday evening, Kyagulanyi pledged to uplift the face of the kingdom to regain its defined status.

He also said that his government will set free the Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere and his royal guards.

Mumbere is currently battling more than 41 charges including terrorism, murder and aggravated robbery among others that were slapped against him and 203 royal guards three years ago.

Mumbere and his royal guards were picked during a military raid on his palace in 2016 and have since been confined pending the disposal of the charges against him.

Kyagulanyi also pledged to invest heavily in the mining sector of the district underlining that his government will revamp the industrial sector in the district.

Kyagulanyi also encouraged young people to use the election process as a platform to air out their voices.

The presidential hopeful used the campaign to blame the brutality of the security forces that have been exhibited on his rallies.
