Police have dismissed as untrue reports that there is a clash between the Joint Chief of Staff, Maj Gen Abel Kandiho and other police directors over his security at Naguru.

Some sections of media yesterday reported that there was a clash between Gen Kandiho who was recently appointed as the Joint Chief of Staff and other Police directors regarding his security.

It was reported that Kandiho, who is the latest UPDF officer to be appointed a Police director wanted to have his army “commandos” allowed to provide security at the Police headquarters in Naguru, a move that has allegedly seen him clash with other directors who are against the move.

However, in a statement today morning, Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said the reports are unfounded and that the public ought to treat it as such

Enanga explained that the safety and security of the top police leadership is done by VIPPU personnel from the Directorate of Counter Terrorism.

They ensure the safety and security of their principals during escort, at the residence and while traveling within the country.

The police spokesperson says that any additional protective enhancements, maybe extended depending on the threat assessment.

The police spokesperson however urged journalists to always remain professional by putting in efforts to carry out research while reporting, rather than basing on opinions and personal biases.
