A radio Journalist in Mbarara is living in fear for his life after receiving threatening messages on his phone.
Elly Nyesiga working as the news reporter at Endigyito radio has reported to police station in Mbarara a case of being threatened.
Nyesiga says he is living in fear after receiving death threats in telephone messages by yet an unidentified person.
Nyesiga says he received a first message from a telephone number 0758250122, threatening to end his life soon.
He adds that he received another message from the same number warning him that the sender knows where He (Nyesiga) stays and his family if he can’t leave writing about him (Sender).
In the messages seen by this reporter, the sender says the money he embezzled is not for Nyesiga therefore he should back off.
Nyesiga believes that the sender of the threatening messages is the Mbarara district finance officer Mr Gilbert Bataringaya whom he was part of the story about his failure to account for 72 million shillings which was meant for the construction and upgrade of the health centre.
Speaking to our reporter, the Rwizi region Police spokesperson Samson Kasasiira said they have already recorded the matter for investigation as the hunt for the suspect continue.
