Mbarara City Councilors have set October 1st 2021 to shift city council offices to Kamukuzi where the headquarters of Mbarara district.

This was passed during the council sitting yesterday, following a motion raised by Ronald Taremwa, councilor representing Biharwe B division and who doubles as secretary for finance and planning.

Councilors vowed that with effect from October 1st, they will shift their officers without hesitation.

Recently, the ministry of local government set up a committee led by Kashari north MP Bazil Bataringaya composed of all Mps from the city and the district plus the mayor and the district chairperson to come up with the report in two weeks on the contested property.

However, Councilors said this committee is already biased and they asked Kakyebezi to leave the committee.

In his remarks, the Mbarara city mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi has agreed with councilors and also supported the set date of shifting the offices.

When contacted, Didas Tabaro the district chairperson, lashed at the city council resolution saying this matter is beyond them and threatened them that whoever tries to trespass at Kamukuzi offices he will face it rough.

He also accused them of grid to sell the property and asked whoever alleges that he abused him to go to court.
