A thirty-year-old man in Gulu City is fighting for his life at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital after ingesting poison shortly after stabbing his wife to death.
Willy Okeny, who works in Gulu City was rushed to the health facility by his father on Thursday mid-morning after trying to kill himself at around 10:00 a.m.
Jimmy Ocitti, the Pece Lukung Cell Local Chairperson in Pece-Laroo division where the couple was residents says that Okeny developed a misunderstanding with his wife Grace Laker on suspicion of infidelity.
He explained that the couple engaged in a physical fight when the deceased returned home on Thursday morning after spending a night outside their home without the knowledge of the husband.
Ocitti adds that Okeny picked up a knife and stabbed his wife killing her instantly after moments of arguments and shortly ingested poison for killing termites in a move to take his life.
However, his father who was home at that time noticed the disagreement but only to rush and discover his son`s wife dead and the husband also lying helpless.
Okeny was rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital where he is battling for his life under police guard.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says the suspect`s condition will first be managed at the hospital before he is transferred to the police cell.
