MURDERS ON THE RISE IN KANUNGU DISTRICT- SECURITY

MUDER IN KANUNGU-9ec5e1bd

Authorities in Kanungu have expressed concern over the increased number of murders in the district mainly resulting from domestic violence.

According to the OC Kanungu police station Charles Muhereza, in the past three weeks alone, police have registered over seven murders in different areas of Kanungu district, a trend that is worrying.

Speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview at his offices, Muhereza said in some instances women connive with their children to kill the husband while in other instances husbands kill their wives over varying issues.

Muhereza added that police investigations have since revealed that the increased domestic violence leading murders are mostly as a result of poverty, ignorance, religious differences, alcoholism, and drug abuse among others.

The OC cites a murder case in Kambuga Sub County, Kanungu district last week where a husband known to be a drug addict suspected his wife to be having an extra marital affair, killed her and later cut off her private parts saying she was misusing them.
