Over two hundred households in Bukiiro and Rwanyamahembe town councils in Kashari south Mbarara district are living in fear of losing their land to unscrupulous individuals who have allegedly acquired land titles fraudulently.
The land title that created conflicts is alleged to have been acquired in 2020 by claimant Jenifer Kametene widow of late Kamushoko George who allegedly sold the former mailo land to sitting residents who have land agreements and land titles.
In the meeting held at Bukiiro seed school, Locals now want the government to cancel the alleged forged land title.
The chairperson organizing committee for protection of human rights of people staying on the land in conflict Moses Ayebare advised the people to cooperate with local leaders and ensure their grievances are reported to president Museveni for timely interventions.
The deputy mayor Bukiiro town council Asiimwe Rogers requested for urgent intervention from the government to protect residents from thieves who want to take their land.
