The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, has pledged to cushion struggling families with Shs100,000 each for six months as part of his government’s Covid-19 recovery plan.

Amuriat, who has been campaigning without shoes, said the planned Covid-19 relief to struggling families would help hand-to-mouth Ugandans who have lost jobs and other sources of economic livelihood in the pandemic.

He said the bare feet is a protest against police brutality and continued harassment of Opposition leaders in the country.

Amuriat, who is also the FDC party president, made the promise while campaigning in Katakwi and Amuria districts yesterday.

He explained that the payment of the Covid-19 relief would commence immediately after his swearing in as president in May 2021.
