Byamukama is a resident of Bihomborwa village, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi region told the press that on October 15, 2023, the two victims, along with four other girls, left home to collect firewood however, upon their return, they were confronted by the suspect, who accused them of damaging or trampling on his garden of beans.

According to police, the suspect singled out the two younger victims from the group and instructed them to accompany him as a form of punishment to collect grass and while in the bush, he allegedly tied up the victims and engaged in sexual acts with each of them.

Maate added that after the incident, the victims managed to escape and reported the matter to their parents who also reported the matter to police.
