POLICE ARRESTS A MAN FOR STEALING MEAT

Police in Kiruhura District is holding a one Alex Tugume aged 52 years a driver and a resident of Nyakasharara Trading Centre, Kiruhura Town Council, Kiruhura District for being found in possession of suspected stolen meat.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Regional police spokesperson said police in Kiruhura district on the night of  Saturday intercepted a motor vehicle registration number UAW 608Y at Kyanyeba- Rushere Town Council in transit.

Upon the search they found suspected stolen meat and police ordered the driver to take it to CPS Kiruhura for management upon which a report was made of stealing of cattle.

Some of the exhibits that were recovered from the vehicle include 09 heads of cows, 27 legs of cows, 07 hides, 02 tails, 06 sacks containing offals, two front legs of chest meat, two hind thigh meat, a panga and a knife.

Kasasira added that the Veterinary officer inspected the meat and guided on its disposal as inquiries are still ongoing into the matter.
