POLICE ARRESTS THE KILLER OF A 75YR OLD MAN IN MUKONO DISTRICT

Police have confirmed the arrest of Deo Osombe, 42yrs for stabbing to death a 75-year-old man identified Yusufu Mwebesa at Lutengo LCI in Nakifuma-Naggalama town council in Mukono district.

Geoffrey Kiiza the local council-LCI chairperson reveals that on Sunday night Osombe wanted to rob the deceased of an unknown amount of cash which he had got from a plot of land he sold a few days ago.

Osombe stabbed the victim on the stomach several times but the victim managed to make an alarm that prompted his son Julius Mubiru, 13, to wake up and also made an alarm forcing the robber to flee the house into hiding leaving the deceased bleeding.

The son together with the community rushed the victim to Dana medical centre for treatment but later was referred to Kayunga Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire confirms that the suspect has been arrested and detained at Naggalama police division.

Oweyesigire notes that with the help of residents of Lutengo village, police managed to arrest the suspect, and the body of the deceased was taken to Kayunga hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
