President Museveni will tomorrow Wednesday 3rd February officially announce when or whether schools will fully or partially reopen for more classes in addition to the candidates.

This follows a cabinet meeting held yesterday which looked at various options both the scientists and ministry of education officials submitted after they failed to agree on permitting all learners back to school this term.

Alex Kakooza, Ministry of Education permanent secretary, told our reporter yesterday that the President would make his final say on Wednesday.

While education technocrats had proposed that all learners return to school, scientists under the national covid19 task force said it was risky at the moment and appealed that they wait until learners are vaccinated.

However, according to the health ministry, Uganda is likely to receive the first of the vaccine about 9 million doses between May and June.

Priority is to be given to frontline workers, elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

Currently the ministry of health has recorded a decline in Covid19 cases contrary to earlier projections because of election season.

On 31st January, only 27 cases were reported and one death.
