Police in Kisoro district have arrested three people in connection with the attack on the offices of Foundation for the Rights of Women in Uganda (FORIWU) an organization defending and promoting the rights of women in Kisoro district and neighboring districts.

It is believed that on the night of 15th October 2021, unknown assailants attacked the offices in the evening hours taking away the offices equipment and other documents from the offices.

The matter was later reported to the central police station at Kisoro by the Executive Director of FORIWU Ms Agnes Owimaana accompanied by her lawyer.

This prompted police to carryout investigation leading to the arrest of three people namely: Katongore Hafasha 24, Mugisha Didas 35 and Thomas Nkunda 41.

The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate has confirmed the news saying the three will be charged with burglary and theft once investigations are done.

He further said that more culprits are still being hunted thus requesting the public to volunteer any information that may lead to the arrest of the people who broke the offices of Foundation for the Rights of Women in Uganda (FORIWU)
